Adding Depth to Your Photos

Author: DiveMaster

Photographs are special in that they can tell a story which would be inexpressible through words. Complex emotions and fleeting moments of grandeur are captured and articulated with eloquence. Just like a great novel or movie, a series of photographs should possess a narrative arc that the viewer can follow from one image to the next.

There’s no need to force it. Take some time to find a suitable subject for your photographs – maybe a beautiful beach or an awe-inspiring piece of architecture. As an avid SCUBA diver, I find taking pictures underwater to be exhilarating. Most people never get to experience aquatic wildlife from this perspective, and I’m able to almost recreate the experience for them. On all of my dives I pack an underwater camera with my SCUBA equipment. It can be cumbersome to be taking pictures constantly when you’re under the water, so I reserve the camera fro the most exciting moments or set aside a small portion of the dive for photography.
